For a period of 6 months, I worked with Mnmur (pronounced ‘minimour’) to design a backpack that attaches to a Brompton bike frame. At the time, no such product existed on the market, making this quite a design challenge.&nbsp; It was about&nbsp;creating a functional, viable, safe product that is compatible with the Brompton bike, which uses a specific carrier system that allows backpacks to sit on the handlebar.&nbsp;Bags for Brompton bikes use this mount for a smooth click-on, click-off. While there are many Brompton-compatible shoulder bags, designing a backpack required rethinking structure, weight distribution, and user comfort. I developed several prototypes to balance the stiffness needed for the mount with the flexibility and ergonomics expected from an everyday backpack. Working closely with the founders, I tested materials, refined the pattern, and adapted the mounting plate to ensure stability while riding. The final design offered a durable, fully upcycled backpack that could transition seamlessly from cycling to daily use - expanding Mnmur’s product line with something entirely new to their craft.&nbsp; An alternative Future for bees&nbsp; During a speculative major at UAL, I delved into what the future of bees could look like. With my partner Cecilia, I explored how agriculture might evolve if bee cohabitation and permaculture were placed at the centre of the system. We carried out extensive research and used grounded theory to imagine both hopeful and unsettling futures, questioning the assumptions that shape today’s farming practices. This research grew into Beetopia, a project that examined the relationship between humans, bees, and sustainable food production. To do this, I dove deep into scientific research and collaborated with ocean experts, blending anthropological and scientific perspectives to explore human interaction with marine ecosystems. Using oyster shells in a participatory exhibition, this project sparked empathy and reflection on ocean futures and systemic change. I AM UPCYCLED examined systemic gaps in the industry and proposed solutions for a more sustainable future.&nbsp;This study combined academic research with a case study approach, applying the Theory of Change to address fashion waste. Alongside a research essay, the project featured a creative upcycled garment and a video illustrating key insights. I specialise in Service Design, UX, and Sustainability. Over the past 6 years, I’ve worked in various European countries such as Italy, Switzerland and France, and my ability to speak four languages has opened many doors for me. My projects have explored social change and climate justice through speculative, creative, and strategic approaches.&nbsp; Originally trained in Industrial Design Engineering, I shifted focus to counter consumerism and went on to study Social Innovation and Sustainable Futures at the University of the Arts London in 2022. Since then, I’ve built on the environmental angle at the Ferm, a London-based food start-up in London, helping expand their work into circularity and transparency.&nbsp; One of my ongoing projects, Into the Void, explores ocean acidification and was showcased at Murmurations (BOLD Elephant, London), creating a space for education, conversation, and reimagining our relationship with the ocean.
