An alternative Future for bees
During a speculative major at UAL, I delved into what the future of bees could look like. With my partner Cecilia, I explored how agriculture might evolve if bee cohabitation and permaculture were placed at the centre of the system. We carried out extensive research and used grounded theory to imagine both hopeful and unsettling futures, questioning the assumptions that shape today’s farming practices.
This research grew into Beetopia, a project that examined the relationship between humans, bees, and sustainable food production. Our work brought together apiology, alternative agricultural models, and systems thinking, and culminated in a conceptual installation exhibited at UAL in Elephant and Castle.

Key challenges:
- Conducted speculative design research to explore alternative agricultural futures.
- Applied grounded theory to develop a thought-provoking scenario.
- Investigated apiology and beekeeping as integral elements of sustainable ecosystems.
- Facilitated a workshop and produced a comprehensive report on the findings.
